{"id":2134,"date":"2024-01-28T22:15:38","date_gmt":"2024-01-28T20:15:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/concordialegal.bg\/grant-for-registration-of-trademarks-designs-and-patents-in-2024\/"},"modified":"2025-05-13T17:21:56","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T15:21:56","slug":"grant-for-registration-of-trademarks-designs-and-patents-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/concordialegal.bg\/en\/grant-for-registration-of-trademarks-designs-and-patents-in-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Grant for registration of trademarks, designs and patents in 2024."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who provides the grant?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.euipo.europa.eu\/bg\/discover-ip\/sme-fund\/overview\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.euipo.europa.eu\/bg\/discover-ip\/sme-fund\/overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Ideas Powered for Business SME Fund<\/a> is a grant scheme for the registration of trademarks, designs and patents aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises in the European Union to protect their intellectual property (IP) rights.<br\/><br\/><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who can benefit from financial assistance?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Fund offers financial support in the form of Vouchers to <strong>micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as well as self-employed persons<\/strong> established in the European Union.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To apply you need to prepare:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>VAT<\/strong> registration certificate;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The bank account statement of the trading company.<br\/><br\/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is the financial assistance<\/strong>?<br\/><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Fund offers financial support in the form of Vouchers:<br\/><br\/><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>VACHER 1-IP Scan &#8211; reimbursement of 90% of the government fees for the Intellectual Property Preliminary Diagnostic (IP Scan) services &#8211; up to \u20ac450<\/strong>, which provide an overall assessment of the intellectual<strong>property<\/strong>needs of the<strong> <\/strong>applying SME, taking into account the innovative potential of its intangible assets.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; <strong>IP Scan Enforcement &#8211; <\/strong>Intellectual Property Enforcement Diagnostics. The new service is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that suspect that another country has infringed their intellectual property rights, or SMEs accused of infringing another country&#8217;s intellectual property rights. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>VAUCHER 2 &#8211; trademark and design protection &#8211; reimbursement of 75% of the state fees collected for the registration of European and Bulgarian trademarks and designs &#8211; up to 1 000 euro;<\/strong> reimbursement of 50% of the fees collected by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/portal\/en\/index.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/portal\/en\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the World Intellectual Property Organization<\/a> for obtaining international protection of trademarks and designs;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Voucher 3 &#8211; for national and European patents &#8211; reimbursement of 75% of the state fees for filing national and European patents and prior art searches in 2023 &#8211; up to \u20ac3,500;<\/strong> In 2024, for the first time, the possibility of reimbursement of 50% of the legal costs for preparing and filing a new European patent application, up to a maximum of \u20ac2,000.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>VAUCHER 4 &#8211; for plant varieties &#8211; reimbursement of 75% of the fees for electronic filing of plant variety applications at European Union level <\/strong>and a fee for the examination of Community plant varieties at the Community Plant Variety Office &#8211; <strong>up to \u20ac1 500.<\/strong> <br\/><br\/><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When does the application process start?<\/strong><br\/><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Submission of applications for approval began on January 22, 2024 and will continue until December 6, 2024.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>The vouchers have a limited period of use, being valid for 2 months from the time of receipt of the grant. This validity period can be extended by a further 2 months. <\/em><\/strong><br\/><br\/><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is the process?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It consists of the following steps:<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Applying for a grant<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Registration with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euipo.europa.eu\/bg\/discover-ip\/sme-fund\/overview\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.euipo.europa.eu\/bg\/discover-ip\/sme-fund\/overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fund<\/a>, completion and application of the necessary application documents is required.<\/p>\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Receipt of grants and vouchers awarded<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the application is approved, the enterprise will receive the allocated funds and vouchers (within 15 working days). You must then activate them by requesting a refund within 2 months (extension possible). <\/p>\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Requesting and paying for IP services<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to be reimbursed for the intellectual property services you requested, you must submit reimbursement paperwork after you have paid for the services.<\/p>\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Reimbursement of costs<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you have requested and paid for the services, the necessary paperwork for reimbursement should be completed. Payment from EUIPO will be made within 1 month. <\/p>\n\n<ol start=\"5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Period of implementation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you have activated the voucher(s), a &#8220;performance period&#8221; begins during which you can request additional activities and claim additional reimbursement within the scope of the voucher(s).
